Operating System Installation (Windows 98)

Procedures

  1. After formatting drive C:, you can now proceed with OS installation.
  2. Restart the computer (make sure the CD for win98 installation still inside the CD-ROM drive.)
  3. Choose (2) Boot from CD-ROM
  4. Choose (1) Start Windows 98 Setup from CD-ROM. It will prompt you in the Microsoft Windows 98 Setup.
  5. Read and follow the instructions as shown in the screen to continue the setup.
  6. Enter or type the product key correctly when asked. It is composed of 25 characters. Accept also the License Agreement and click NEXT to continue the setup.
  7. Most of the time it requires you to click NEXT to continue the setup.
  8. Wait until it prompt you that the installation is finished!
  9. Proceed with Drivers Installation.

Drivers Installation Motherboard Driver

  1. Insert the CD Driver in the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Most drivers play with Autorun or Autoplay upon inserting the CD. It makes easy for you to install the drivers and software for the motherboard.
  3. Read and follow the instructions for the installation process until it is finished.
  4. Restart the computer if necessary.

Installing Display/Video Driver

  1. Insert the Display/Video Driver CD in the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Wait for the Autorun/Autoplay.
  3. Click install drivers and follow the instructions for the installation process until it is finished.
  4. Install also the DirectX to have a better resolution for the display.
  5. Restart the computer if necessary.

Installing Audio/Sound Driver 1. Insert the Sound Driver CD in the CD-ROM drive. 2. Wait for the Autorun/Autoplay. Follow the instructions for the installation process. 3. Restart the computer if necessary. Note: If the Autorun/Autoplay does not work: 1. Double click My Computer 2. Right Click the CD-ROM Drive then click Open or Explore. 3. Double click the folder for the drivers or look immediately and double click the SETUP.EXE or the SETUP icon and continue the installation process. Dual Booting (Windows 98 and Windows XP) Procedures:

  1. Make sure the hard disk drive is partitioned into two. (Drive C: and D:)
  2. Install Windows 98 first in the first partition (drive C:)
  3. Under the Windows 98 desktop, insert the CD for Windows XP.
  4. Wait for the Autoplay. Then click Install Windows XP.
  5. Select ‘New Installation (Advanced)’ under the Installation Type (Click arrow down on the side). Click NEXT to continue.
  6. Install windows XP in drive D: (Make sure that you format the drive with FAT file system which is compatible with the file system of windows 98 to avoid conflicts).
  7. Accept the License Agreement and Enter the Product Key (25 characters).
  8. Follow the instructions for the installation process (you may call the attention of the Trainer)

Operating System Installation (Windows XP)

Procedures:

  1. Turn on the computer.
  2. Insert the CD for Windows XP installation
  3. Make sure the CMOS/BIOS Setup has been set the First Boot Device as CDROM. (Change the settings for the First Boot Device if necessary, F10 to save the changes and Restart.)
  4. Upon restarting, it will boot to your CD-ROM and ask you to:
  5. Press any key to boot from CD (press immediately any key from the keyboard) Accept the License Agreement by pressing F8. Follow the instructions for the installation process (you may call the attention of the Trainer).

Application Software Installation

  • Anti-virus (You may choose the anti-virus program you want to use.)
  • MS Office XP Professional
  • Other Utilities

  1. Insert the installer CD in the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Double Click My Computer.
  3. Right click the CD-ROM drive then click Open or Explore.
  4. Double click the folder of the anti-virus program you want to install.
  5. Look for the SETUP.EXE or the Setup icon then double click to continue the installation process.
  6. Follow the instructions for the installation process .
